Asked how he felt about winning, Shane said he said: Disbelief that I won the award because I had to be cajoled into entering.  I’d Like to dedicate it to Kerry Mabbley because she has helped me so much.  When I started school I couldn’t read or write and together with the teachers who helped me, Kerry has taught me how to be a better ambassador for Springboard.
With this award I’ll be able to tell the students that with hard work and perseverance they can achieve things that perhaps they never thought they could achieve.

Sally impressed the judges with the extent of her activities to enthuse and encourage fresh talent into the industry – contributing over 100 hours of her own time to the cause, in the Manchester area – Sally is one of the longest serving Ambassadors, implementing imaginative and compelling initiatives and thoroughly deserves her award.

Andy Aston, Restaurant Associates (Compass Group)

Andy Aston impressed the judges with the extent of his activities to inspire and encourage fresh talent into the industry, his own enthusiasm and energy knew no bounds as he engaged in a catalogue of demonstrations, work experience, welcomed numerous groups of potential recruits into his kitchen for have a go sessions; supported Springboard with its FutureChef competition, summer school programme, careers events and gave his expertise as a prize to help raise funds for Springboard by offering to cook for 8 people. He loved his contribution to Springboard’s activities so much he persuaded his employers to spare him one day a month to work specifically on Springboard activities.
